WhatsApp Status Marketing: How I Use It To Increase Sales
In 2017, WhatsApp introduced a new feature called Status Update.
I tried it out and loved it and blogged about it.
Then came 2018, and I started sharing my daily thoughts, the work I do, and what I learn from a friend’s activities on YouTube.
And something interesting happened
People were listening and interacting with me privately to say how much they loved looking forward to my WhatsApp status.
I was like ‘wow’. This WhatsApp status is going to be a good channel for promoting my business.
Then one day I wrote a story on mistakes a client of mine (a law firm) made with their website and how it affected their SEO rankings.
As I stopped halfway, my WhatsApp contacts slid into my DM, urging me to finish my story. They can’t wait!
So I continued and ended with a call to action for them to book an SEO Audit for a small token.
That marked the beginning of my WhatsApp Status Sales!
A recent stat by Techcrunch shows that WhatsApp status has the highest number of active viewers of about 450 million.
Higher than Instagram stories, Snapchat, Facebook Stories, etc.
Even some Nigerian banks and churches have pitched their tent on this platform in order to interact with their customers.
How To Write WhatsApp Stories That Sells
Here’s a sample format by Caroline Wabara:
“Story (Case Study, Shocker, Stats, Testimonial, Problems, Mistakes), Your Solution, Pricing (very important), CTA (Link, Swipe Up).”
Let me give a real-life scenario for business
For instance, you want to sell a website design service.
You can start with a case study. Telling a story of a mistake a client made on their website. The consequences of the mistake, And how you came in to solve the problem. The result of your solution. Then offer your website design service as the solution.
You can do the same thing for your cake business, tax firm, law firm, real estate firm, interior design school, content writing service, etc.
Paint the picture of how life will be like without the problem that is killing them slowly
